Century Falls Episode Five

Carey complains that she useless, and always the one that lags behind her brother. Tess suddenly realises the nature of Carey's ability - she can 'earth' her brother's wildcard excesses. They set off…

At the waterfall, Carey succeeds in taking Ben's hand. The fire fades, and Ben sinks to the ground. Julia is furious, but Carey insists that if anyone interferes then both their minds will be harmed. Ashe is compelled to aid Carey in carrying Ben to the car. Esme and Tess, who are concealed in the car, then succeed in making a getaway. Esme discovers however that she can't drive across the boundaries of the village without Ben's condition deteriorating. They return to village shop, and decide to split up. May will drive Tess, Ben and Carey to a safe location, whilst Esme remains with Elisabeth Hunter.

The villagers hold another gathering to find out who Julia truly is, and what is her purpose. Looking in to Julia's mind they discover she is connected intimately to them - she is a manifestation of the villager's dark subconscious.

Hidden in a disused outhouse, May and the children are confronted by Ashe, but succeed in overpowering him. Next, Julia uses her powers to communicate with May's mind. Playing on May's fears, Julia suggests that surely May is unwilling to allow another child to die? If May takes Ben to the manor house, Julia will help him…

Morning comes, and May ushers the children in the car. Tess however sees the spectre of child, and realises somehow that her mother is in danger. She runs off to find her.

At the manor house, the villagers congregate. They see Josiah Naismith descend the stairs. With the exception of Esme, they all seem mesmerised by Julia. May arrives with Ben and Carey. Carey releases Ben's hand, and he regains consciousness. Julia finally reveals her terrible plan - Century is to be reincarnated through Elisabeth Hunter's unborn child…

Reaching home, Tess tries to aid her mother. Elisabeth has however been taken over by the strange calm that has affected most of the villagers, and insists that everything is going to be 'beautiful'…
