Dark Season Episode Three

Outside in the playground, one of the schoolchildren accidentally drops his computer.  Olivia screams, and rushes out of the car to tend the broken bits of machinery.  In the lane Eldritch clutches his head, and consequently Marcie escapes.

After a moment of communion, Eldritch and Olivia recover.  Miss Maitland drives off, and the pupils begin to disperse home with their new computers. 

Eldritch returns to the Polzinski house. Stopping all opposition with a stare, he grabs Reet and along with Mr Polzinski, she is bundled into a van and driven away.  Back at the control room, Eldritch introduces the ‘Professor’ to a temple dedicated to his work.  Mr Polzinski is appalled, saying he abandoned such work.  Eldritch responds that ‘nothing brought into existence can be undone.  It’s the trap men set themselves’.  He tells Reet that she will be an acolyte...

Miss Maitland arrives at the Polzinski’s house.  Marcie, Thomas, Mrs Polzinski and Miss Maitland drive off to find the Abyss factory.  Marcie explains that with the symbiosis program, Polzinski invented the ‘perfect user friendly computer’.  This is now being used parasitically, to link people to the mind of Mr Eldritch.   

Eldritch tells the ‘Professor’ that his task will be to develop the symbiosis program into a virus that will spread from machine to machine.  He doesn’t want total control however – he wants to create chaos. 

Arriving at the factory, Miss Maitland confesses she is unable to help further, and will take Mrs Polzinski home.  Marcie and Thomas break into the factory alone.  Eldritch detects their arrival, and dispatches Olivia.  Reet meanwhile is locked in a room with a computer.    

Thomas and Marcie become separated. While Olivia stalks Marcie, Thomas is captured, and locked in the room with Reet.  On the computer screen a countdown begins.   

At home, Mrs Polzinski unpacks a computer keyboard, connects it to a screen and begins to type.  In the control room, Mr Polzinski reveals that he is not Professor Becjinski – Professor Becjinski is his wife. 

Marcie breaks into the room Reet and Thomas are captive in, but is confronted by Olivia.  At a crucial moment, Mrs Polzinski/Professor Becjinski’s hacking takes effect and Olivia screams and collapses.  In the control room, Eldritch is similarly affected.

Marcie releases her friends, and they attempt to escape.  Eldritch confronts them angrily.  As Professor Becjinski continues to type, Eldritch is further weakened.  There is a struggle and the trio – aided by the now returned to normal Olivia – manage to escape.  Light floods from the computer screen and Eldritch, who has lost his tinted glasses in the struggle, screams before it.

Professor Becjinski succeeds in wiping the system clean.  The immediate threat is over, but Marcie believes they will confront Eldritch again.  As the trio walks home, a school pupil can be seen dumping his now useless Abyss computer in a bin.
